Ras Al Khaimah: The immigration prosecution ordered the detention of a Russian woman for seven days for entering the country on an Armenian passport and illegal stay.
Abdul Nasser Mohammad, the emirate's public prosecutor, said the 19-year-old woman, identified as M.Z., was spotted in Ajman by police who asked her to show her documents.
He added that the woman presented a copy of her Armenian passport.
On checking, the police found that all the information shown in the passport matched the computer data available with them except that she was officially registered as holding Russian citizenship.
Mohammad explained that the woman entered the UAE on a tourist visa issued from Ras Al Khaimah with a Russian passport in 2003.
RAK police confirmed that the woman held a Russian passport when she first entered the UAE but later got an Armenian passport.
The woman confessed that she was given the Armenian passport by a woman for free in the UAE after she entered the country on a tourist visa.
