Bodyguards of Officials, Oligarchs Participated in March 1st Clashes

Andranik Kocharyan and Seda Safaryan, two former members of the March 1 Fact Finding Committee, today claimed that bodyguards of influential officials and moneyed individuals were given uniforms and participated in the bloody events of March 1, 2008. The list has been forwarded to the National Assembly’s March 1 Ad-Hoc Committee.
The names had been supplied to them bu the Armenian National Congress (HAK). The list includes Gagik Tsarukyan, Hovik Abrahamyan, Gagik Beglaryan, Mher Sedrakyan, Levon Sargsyan, Surik Khachatryan, Samvel Aleksanyan, Vachik Ghazaryan ans Arakel Movsesyan.
‘We visited the storage depot at defense ministry to make a spot check but were turned away due to some previously arranged restrictions. We then went to the military command where the uniforms were most likely registered but were turned away as well,” stated Andranik Kocharyan.
The list of names is included in the addendum to the fourth report filed by the two opposition members of the Fact Finding Committee that was dissolved on August 24. The report has been sent to the Samvel Nikoyan who heads the National Assembly’s March 1 Ad-Hoc Committee.
