I was going to post 3 of the 4 stories below and then discovered that Onnik over at oneworld.am had already done so and included some very insightful comments about them, thus I click on the links to read the stories.

Top Ten Richest People in Armenia?

In this story, I want to point out the obvious that there are quite a few people who didn’t make the list that I’m guess would if it was the top 20 richest people and also the order the list is in is a bit questionable. In addition to this, notice that David Harutyunyan, the Minister of Justice and man who claims there is no problem of trafficking of women and children is the 10th most richest man in Armenia. I wonder where he got his money?

Kocharian to retain power after 2008?

This is a great story that documents directly and indirectly what is going on in Armenia. Read into the sentence in the 6th paragraph of the Minister of Defense Sarkisian’s visit to Iraq to kiss up to the U.S. for support of his becoming elected the next President of Armenia. For those that are not fully in tune with what is going on, the only way that Sarkisian will be elected is with massive voter fraud and he needs the West to turn a blind eye, thus in return for this favor, we give back liberated territories to Azerbaijan.

Cafesjian & the Government

This was not one that I had come across, thus was not going to post, but would say that it is good reading so you can see how wealthy Diaspora donors have been sucked in and manipulated by the Kocharian government.

Sefilyan in Detention for 2 Months

I am really saddened by this story and the overall circumstance around the arrest. If the authorities have the smoking gun, there is no reason not to have Sefilyan in court within the next couple of weeks. I’m guessing the smoking gun will be similar to the smoking gun they found after the “assignation attempt” on the NKR President back in 2001, which one of those "smoking guns" was Garo Babayan’s Kalashnikov that was discovered at the scene of the crime a couple of days following the shooting in a place that was literally searched inch by inch with a magnifying glass and the day of the real seach there was no Kalashnikov. When the Kalashnikov was examined in a laboratory in Yerevan, it was determined that rust found in the barrel indicated it had not been fired for quite some time and certainly not fired within the days before it was discovered. It was obviously found during a search of Garo Babayan’s house after the attempted killing and planted there by those looking for a smoking gun. In short, they will find their smoking gun to convict Safilyan, but we will never really know if it was a real smoking gun or not.

Which of these 3 stories are the same and the other different? Well I wish there was an answer to that question, but sadly they are all the same story of lies, deception and manipulation.

Dreaming of Another Disaster

I just got finished reading the December 13, 2006 edition of GIBRAHAYER e-magazine.

I can’t understand why we are sitting down and dreaming about how were going to re-integrate and develop Western-Armenia, when we should ALL be talking about our very real disaster of the last 15 years of integration and re-development of Armenian and Artsakh. We should ALL be looking for and implementing solutions to the problems that are threatening the survival of our nation, but alas, the romantic dream of Western-Armenian seem to cloud our vision.

I am really disappointed and quite puzzled by our Diaspora who beat the patriotic drum on April 24th, but when the need to save a few Armenian girls who got trafficked or a few thousand of our brothers and sisters facing starvation and death this winter, the drum stops and those “patriots” seem to be busy with more important things.

What should be discussed by the ARF Dashnaktsoutoun Shant Student Association at Hollywood’s Karapetian Hall (see story below) is the recent arrests and murders of Armenian war heroes who have/had the moral fortitude to stand up against those who mismanage and are ready to hand back our strategic territories that WE liberated with our blood to the Azeris. Discussing what we are going to do when the Turks hand us back Western-Armenia, should be saved after more pressing issues are dealt with.

And if Turkey hands back Western-Armenia to us tomorrow, we had better have all our other issues resloved or else in a very short time, we will be handing Western-Armenian over to someone without a fight.

Now an update on our raising funds to help out our starving brothers and sisters of Lachin with our project Hand-To-Hand. As of this posting and a couple hundred hits on this site, we have received 1 (ONE) donation of $50 (FIFTY) from someone in New Jersey. Believe it or not, I was anticipating $5, $10 and $20 donations, so to get a $50 tax-deductible donation from a fellow human makes me very happy and gives me hope that by the end of the year, a busload of common everyday citizens from Martuni who donors like the one from New Jersy empowered, will deliver some desperately needed financial assistance to Armenian families in Lachin who are facing starvation and possibly even death this winter.

HAY TAD - the next level

A Panel Discussion was organised last week by the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun Shant Student Association at Hollywood's Karapetian Hall. The topic of the panel discussion was the re-integration and re-development of the occupied Western Armenian territories after they have been returned by Turkey as a condition of Armenian Genocide recognition. The experts who participated in the panel discussion were political scientist and historian Garabed Moumdjian, Ph.D., economist and professor Ara Khanjian, Ph.D., and professional civil engineer Aram Kaloustian P.E.

The panel discussion was moderated by Levon Baronian, founder of the Confederation of All-Armenian Student Associations (All-ASA) and administrator of the ExecNet Armenian Network of Student Clubs (ExecNet). Before introducing the panelists, Mr. Baronian relayed that the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun Shant organized this event because it believes that the time has come to take Hay Dat to the next level and begin planning for what comes after the imminent recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

HELP PREVENT THE STARVATION OF ARMENIANS IN LACHIN

Dear readers,

The conditions in Armenia and Artsakh are changing very fast and in a very bad way.

The depopulating of the strategic territory of Lachin and the recent arrest of Diaspora Armenia Zhirair Sefilian who was a strong oppositionist to the NKR Government’s mismanagement of Lachin are indicators of some very bad things to come and most so for the Armenian families living in Lachin.

As recently reported in the HETQ story I reposted about the Artsakh President promising to fix the problems in Lachin in a month, I can say that the President’s claims of fixing things are all lies. This is not just speculation on my part, but reliable information from within the government tells me that the NKR Government is working very hard to further silence and cover up the conditions in Lachin. Of course when we see no changes in the next few weeks our speculation will become a fact.

The time has come for action from the Diaspora to come to the aid of Armenian families in Lachin who are living in deplorable conditions and facing starvation this winter.

It’s great that we have secured hundreds of signatures on a petition to the NKR government, but since we know now that there have been no changes to conditions in Lachin to relieve the suffering to the people there, we now need to put our money where our mouths are and send direct financial assistance to those suffering, thus also sending a message to the NKR Government that we really do care and are in a sense taking matters into our own hands.

The Shahan Natalie Family Foundation, Inc., which I represent in Artsakh has come up with a program that I encourage all our readers to get involved with. It is called HAND-TO-HAND and gets our financial contributions directly into the hands of those that are truly in need, fully bypassing corruption. In addition to this, we will empower common citizens of Artsakh to deliver our help to the people of Lachin.

You can read about the program by clicking here.

We are taking donations of any denomination, which will collectively be dispersed in $200 increments.

Your tax-deductible contributions can be made with a credit-card on-line securly via Paypal by clicking on the donation button below, or you may send checks and money-orders made payable to:

How much was really raised by the All Armenia Fund telethon?

I received information from a very reliable source that the claims made by the All Armenia Fund of securing donations of $13.6 million are not true.

It seems that the Lincy Foundation’s $2 million school renovation program has nothing to do with the All Armenia Fund. Hats off to the Lincy Foundation for having understood how to get the job done in Armenia and not let their money be used to make criminal elements richer and more powerful by managing the work themselves.

It seems the explanation to the people at Lincy from the NKR government for announcing the $2 million donation to the Armenia Fund was to motivate others to give since Kirk “gave to the Armenia Fund” $2 million.

It makes me wonder how many other large “donations” were really made to the Armenia Fund and did they really raise more than what they have in years past?

This motivating others to give technique reminds me of President Kocharian’s controller Vaharm Parseghyan, who when he was the Deputy Minister of Culture in Armenia back in 1999, had motivate in the same way a donor in Washington D.C. to give $4,000, claiming that they had already secured $11,000 from President Kocharian ($4k), Vasken Sarkissyan ($4k) and a businessman in Armenia ($3k) for an operation that a war veteran needed...NOT (see: http://aramanoogian.blogspot.com/2004/01/though-this-will-be-long-log-i-felt.html)

Diaspora Armenian war hero arrested in Armenia - Accused of attempting to stage a coup

Onnik over at Oneworld Multimedia picked up on an Interfax story of the arrest of Zhirair Sefilian, the former commander of the Shushi liberating forces.

According to the posting, Zhirair has become an oppositionist to the present day totalitarian government, who appear to be getting ready to hand back strategic territories that Zhirair and the fighters he commanded had liberated with their blood.

I guess if you make a big enough stick over real issues, our totalitarian government creates some dirt on you and has you put out of commission.

President Ghoukasian Makes Promises in Los Angeles

www.hetq.am
[December 4, 2006]

We at Hetq have often focused on the tragic social situation in the Kashatagh region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

As a result, a group of Armenians in the diaspora have formed the "Coalition in Support of Kashatagh" and have created a new website, www.kashatagh.com. Included in the website is a petition addressed to President Robert Kocharian of Armenia and President Arkady Ghoukasian of Nagorno-Karabakh. The petition has already been signed by over 1,000 people worldwide.
On November 18th, while in Los Angeles to participate in the All Armenia Fund's Telethon, President Ghoukasian was handed a copy of the petition and signatures by Mr. Mihran Mahmouzian a well-known American-Armenian benefactor who has been to Kashatagh a number of times to do charitable work.

Mr. Mahmouzian described to the NKR president what he saw taking place in Kashatagh with his own eyes. (See: Mihran Mahmouzian:"It's not a catastrophe, it's a complete catastrophe")

President Ghoukasian promised that upon returning to Karabakh he would rectify the problems in Kashatagh within one month.

ACCORDING TO ARMEN ROUSTAMYAN - ARF WILL PULL OUT OF GOVERNING COALITION IF TERRITORIAL CONCESSIONS MADE IN KARABAKH TALKS

Over at SASSNA DZRER there is an log reporting that during an interview that was broadcast on Public Radio of Armenia today, Armen Roustamyan, a member of the ARF faction and Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations in the National Assembly of Armenia, categorically stated that the ARF would pull out of the governing coalition and move into the ranks of the political opposition if the Kocharian government makes territorial concessions in the Karabakh peace talks that negatively impact on the longterm security of the NKR.
