When is winter going to come? Not that I’m complaining, but last year by this time we had some miserably cold and very wet weather. That weather was also the reason we had a record crop.
Things here in the area of visiting people and overeating is slowing down, though tonight is going to be a super feast at the house of an elderly couple who understand how to keep turkeys, chickens and domesticated quails, This feast is an annual event that I really enjoy, as these are some of the hardest working people I know in Martuni that don’t complain about the corruption and just do their work so they can live and help their children and grandchildren. It also does not hurt that they and their children are strong believers in God, which is probably one of the reasons they don’t bitch and moan about our problems and just turn the other cheek (not that fully agree that this is a good thing).
My two large apricot trees that died last winter were cut down and made into woodstove sizes pieces today. In a matter of 2 hours, these great trees that took 30 years to grow took a matter of a couple of hours to be reduced to firewood. Very sad.
Armenian Christmas is in a couple of days and I’m still not really feeling like I’m in the holiday mood. This of course could change if I have a life-changing event, which in Armenia is always possible.
