An afternoon fishing trip turned into a 2 day visit to Shushi.
Jeff Ryan of NK Arts Nungi Ceramics came to Martuni on Saturday afternoon with a van load of pottery and with him was Rafik and his sons who are from Shushi. For those of you who don’t know who Rafik is, he is construction backbone of NK Arts in Shushi.
I had been called and warned a day before they were coming and when they finish unloading the ceramics, we were going to go fishing at my lake, which we did.
When we only caught 2 small fish and darkness fell, we returned to Martuni and straight to the butcher to pick up some pork for khorvads. As we were going to head to my house, Rafik suggested that we drive to Shushi instead, as Jeff and I were going to come there the following day anyway, as Sunday was Rafik’s birthday and we going to attend his birthday.
We drive to Shushi, had our khorovads and at midnight, we toasted Rafik’s birthday. We repeated this the following day and then got to Martuni at 1 AM on Monday.
For the most part, it was a very enjoyable and unexpected weekend.
